Phenology Observatory of Great BritainNEODAAS is providing the data for this NERC Centre for Ecology and Hydrology development project to monitor seasonal vegetation cycle indicators. Using a long time-series of data, CEH hope to detect and monitor change and distinguish cyclic variations from long-term trends that may indicate climate change. NEODAAS began near-real time delivery of UK MODIS data in 2006. A CEH prototype processing chain is used to derive, cloud cleared, NDVI composites. More standard MODIS processing modules will be implemented to generate higher level products from the data. Once the full processing chain is implemented, all archived MODIS data for the UK since 2000 can be provided to fully validate any underlying seasonal variations and long-term trends. In the longer-term, CEH hope to derive a wider range of terrestrial and atmospheric products and validate these against in-situ ground-based measurements. The snapshot below from the Phenology Observatory website shows daily and monthly UK NDVI derived from NEODAAS data.
