Dr Dan Clewley
Role in NEODAAS
Dan is the manager of NEODAAS and takes care of day-to-day operation of the service and overseeing new developments.
Dan gained his first degree in Physics before deciding to specialise in Remote Sensing. He gained his PhD from Aberystwyth University on modelling and inversion of radar backscatter to estimate forest structure and biomass from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).
His main research interest is the use of Earth Observation data to classify and characterise terrestrial vegetation and changes in these over time, with a particular focus on woodlands and wetland ecosystems.
His areas of expertise are: SAR data, LiDAR data, airborne data processing (including calibration and geocorrection), GIS and development of software for geospatial data processing.
